New York Post Article Highlights Lawsuit Brought by Schlichter Bogard on Behalf of Peruvian Children Subject to Lead Poisoning
As reported by the New York Post, a lawsuit brought by Schlichter Board on behalf of more than 1,000 Peruvian children subject to lead poisoning is set to continue despite nearly two decades of attempts by the defendant – led by billionaire Ira Rennert – to have the case dismissed. Rennert is the founder of the New-York based holding company Renco.
The lawsuit was originally filed in 2007 against Doe Run Resources. The complaint alleges that Doe Run failed to reduce lead emissions at a Peruvian mine as required under the terms of an environmental remediation and management plan Renco signed with the government of Peru.
