Preliminary $600M Settlement Reached in East Palestine Litigation in Which Schlichter Bogard Partner Andrew Schlichter Serves on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee
As reported by Law360, Schlichter Bogard is pleased to report that a federal judge has granted preliminary approval to a $600 million settlement between Norfolk Southern and thousands of impacted residents and businesses after last year’s train derailment and toxic chemical spill in East Palestine, Ohio.
The settlement would cover class claims from residents, business and property owners, and other plaintiffs who alleged numerous harms. Schlichter Bogard partner Andrew Schlichter was appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in April 2023.
