Senior Federal Prosecutor Nathan Stump Joins Schlichter Bogard
Schlichter Bogard & Denton is pleased to announce that senior federal prosecutor Nathan Stump has joined the firm. His practice will focus on complex litigation, including civil trial work, in federal and state courts throughout the country. Mr. Stump brings with him a wide breadth of legal experience and a demonstrated commitment to justice over nearly two decades of practice.
Prior to joining Schlichter Bogard & Denton, Mr. Stump served for over fourteen years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, from 2007 to 2012 in the Middle District of Alabama and from 2012 to 2021 in the Southern District of Illinois, where he worked as the district’s affirmative civil enforcement coordinator. During his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Stump led hundreds of criminal and civil prosecutions, served as lead counsel in numerous criminal and civil jury trials, and successfully handled many cases before U.S. Courts of Appeals.
Representative matters Mr. Stump has handled include national and international white-collar prosecutions, cases involving fraud against the federal government brought under the False Claims Act, and crimes against children, the elderly, and other vulnerable populations. He has also served as a faculty instructor at the National Advocacy Center in South Carolina. Mr. Stump began his legal career as a commercial litigator at large law firms in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Mr. Stump is a founding member of the Southern District of Illinois chapter of the Federal Bar Association and currently serves on the chapter’s executive committee. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan and his bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary, where he majored in government and Mandarin Chinese. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.
