Prior to joining Schlichter Bogard & Denton, Mr. Stump served for over fourteen years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, from 2007 to 2012 in the Middle District of Alabama and from 2012 to 2021 in the Southern District of Illinois, where he worked as the district’s affirmative civil enforcement coordinator. During his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Stump led hundreds of criminal and civil prosecutions, served as lead counsel in numerous criminal and civil jury trials, and successfully handled many cases before U.S. Courts of Appeals.

“Nathan brings to the firm extensive experience handling high-stakes trials and investigations on behalf of the federal government,” said Jerry Schlichter, Managing Partner of Schlichter Bogard & Denton. “He is an outstanding trial lawyer who is an ideal fit for our firm.”

“Schlichter Bogard & Denton’s litigation mission and core values—championing justice for the individual—deeply resonated with me, aligning perfectly with my work as an Assistant U.S. Attorney,” Mr. Stump stated. “I’m excited to use my talents and experience to help further the important, impactful work the firm is already doing in courts across the nation.”

Mr. Stump is a founding member of the Southern District of Illinois chapter of the Federal Bar Association and currently serves on the chapter’s executive committee.
